Can you post comments?

9 Feb

I have been getting complaints about not being able to post comments.  I happen to LOVE comments… Are they working?

Let me know!

Yes in IE, no in Firefox (I can’t type text in the box in Firefox)

Look ok in Firefox. Thanks for the updates. Enjoy reading about your adventures in cycling.

    Works for me!

works for me in Firefox (3.5.7)

But I cant click some of the links towards the top of the page. I think its because there are a lot of errors on the page (19 errors by my count).
But I can read your blog and post comments, and thats what counts :)

It’s actually broken in a quite entertaining way. It’s been bugging my inner nerd, but my outer nerd has too much real work to do to figure out the root cause.

Anyway, something on your page is upsetting Firefox and Google Chrome such that, from the home page, you can’t click on any of the links to do with the first blog post (all other blog posts are fine) and, if you’re looking at the page for a specific post, you may not be able to leave the first comment with Firefox either.

So most people can leave comments on most of your blog posts most of the time.

I might need some of your “inner nerd” to help with this! Haha.

OK, I’m sure it’s caused by the HTML errors in the right hand column. You can’t click on any link in the middle or left column that’s aligned with the Twitter or “support me” widget in the right hand column – anything below the level of those elements is fine – so it’s the formatting of those elements which is breaking stuff. Phew, that’s a weight off my mind.

Easiest fix is to track down your favorite web geek and just add beer (or Rubik’s Cubes, or Star Trek DVDs – your geek may vary) and it shouldn’t take too long to sort out. If you lack a web geek (and really, everyone should have one these days) I could probably do it – just get hold of [TIBCO II] Bobbi Jo through FB.

I can leave a comment now, but haven’t been able to leave a comment using IE or Safari on earlier blog entries.
